For safety’s sake, the four eight-week-old cubs born to National Zoo lioness Shera were given a swim test on Oct. 26 in the moat of the lion exhibit. NZP staff needed to make sure that the cubs could swim should any of them end up in the moat when they are left outside with their parents later this year. All four cubs kept their heads above water. Shown here is keeper Kristen Clark helping one of the cubs out of the moat. More photos of the event can be seen by clicking this LINK. (Photo by Mehgan Murphy)
