This July 10, 1966, color photograph of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King at a rally in Chicago’s Grant Park by Bernard J. Kleina is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. It was a gift of the photographer and his wife acquired by the museum in 2013.

Additional images by Kleina associated with the 1966 Chicago Freedom March movement are available online as are hundreds of other images and artifacts related to Dr. King held in collections across the Smithsonian.
